Hello Goldspek! How are you doing?
I’m doing well thank you for asking. Grateful to be alive and journeying through this thing we call life.
Firstly, can you tell us about your musical background and what inspired you to become a music Producer, DJ, and vocalist?
Sure. I am classically trained in Flute. I had a private teacher, and I was in an orchestra for about 7 years growing up in high school. Music has always been a huge passion in my life, whether it is as a performer or someone dancing on the dancefloor. I was inspired to pursue music production after I attended my first music festival in California. I was taken aback by the kindness, generosity, and the openheartedness of the Electronic music community. It quickly became my place of healing, and I knew that I had to share this inspiration and the feeling of this community through my music.
How has your classical orchestral training influenced your approach to merging classical music with the Electronic music world?
My classical training has helped immensely in helping me develop pitch, and understand the layering of the different elements involved in music composition. I understand that each player in the orchestra, or each synth in an Electronic music composition has its appropriate place and role. I am now deepening my knowledge of music theory and it has helped me tremendously when it comes to writing a composition or vocal melody.
What do you aim to communicate through your music, and how do you want listeners to feel when they listen to your tracks?
The message and intention behind my music is one of love and healing. I am looking to bring elements of Persian heritage and eastern melodies, and weave the music of my ancestors into my music. My aim is to ultimately leave planet Earth a better place than when I came, and I aim to do that through my music.
Could you share some insights into your creative process, especially when it comes to producing tracks that feature your vocals?
The creative process varies from track to track for me. If it is my own track, I usually start with the intention or message that I am trying to convey in the track. If I am particularly feeling overwhelmed by emotions such as grief, or pain, I just allow those feelings to come out of me while I’m playing a particular key that resonates with my feelings at that moment. Once I have a chord progression that I’m happy with, I loop it and create new harmonies and melodies from that parent chord progression. I create other chord progressions as well. I create drums and bass fairly early to give me a groove to vibe to, while I am allowing the melody to come through me. My creative process for vocals is much the same. I usually ask the producer I am working what their inspiration behind writing the track is. What message are they trying to convey? If they do not have any particular idea in mind, I listen to the track and decide on what I would like to say based on the feeling of the track. I play the track multiple times to understand the structure and to find pockets where the vocals would nicely fit in. After that, I allow inspiration to take over and come up with the lyrics as I am listening to the music.
What has been the most memorable moment in your music career so far, and why does it stand out to you?
Having an opportunity to connect with and create with music producers across the world and creating a world-wide community has been pretty special for me. Reaching over 200,000 listens on a track I produced and sang on, and perfected for over a year has been pretty special. Filming a video set in Joshua Tree was pretty amazing. Waking up to a video of Massano performing my vocal collaboration with Copini and Doksu at Afterlife in Argentina has also been a surreal moment for me so far as well.
How would you describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard your music yet?
I would say my music is modern healing music. It has transcendental and melodic elements with strong grooves and basslines that still translate well to moving your body on the dancefloor. My sets are designed to take you through an inner journey on or off the dancefloor.
How do you approach live performances, and what do you enjoy most about connecting with your audience in a live setting?
I am a Capricorn and a planner by trait. Before a performance, I envision myself in that environment. I research the organizer and the other artists on the line up to see what the overall vibe of the night is going to be. I pick the energy level based on the. Then I curate a set from start to finish. I generally leave room for an additional 50-70 tracks curated for that set that I can pick from, depending on the feedback that I am receiving from the crowd.
What are your goals and aspirations for the future of your music career, and how do you envision your sound evolving over time?
I would love to tour and play festivals worldwide. It has always been a passion of mine to play a big stage and feel the collective energy of the crowd. But ultimately my intention is to reach as many souls as I can with my music, to let them know that they are not alone, and that we are all in this healing journey together.
Are there any upcoming releases of live performances you’re excited about?
I have an upcoming vocal collaboration that I am very excited about this summer, and I have a couple of exciting projects in the works that I will share more about soon. I am very much looking forward to the rest of this year and for you to hear the new work that I have created for you.
