A trip hop journey available via La Belle Records
Few manage to express their existential angst in any sort of creative or meaningful way, but that’s not the case with French Auteur and all-round creative Golden Bug. We first experienced his take on leftfield, trip hop with his first single from his new album, now the producer shares a new piece of half-time experimental electronica in the form of “Hi No Tori”
Once again, accompanied by a music visual taking us deep into our own fears for the future, “Hi No Tori” explores the evolution of borders and nations, advocating for unity and brotherhood among peoples. It’s a perfect accompaniment to a track that almost feels like, an evil scene in a film of video game. The track is built from a driving, staccato synth bass and layers synth melodies and hypnotic chanting. Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, Golden Bug explains he’s “A big fan of Can, especially their classic “Mother Sky”. With “Hi No Tori”, I tried to go in that direction, drawing inspiration from that raw, voodoo and psychedelic universe, while retaining a very organic touch. I’d already reunited Vega Voga and The Limiñanas on the track “Tokoyo No Kuni”, taken from my last album Piscolabis I, and it was obvious that they were the ones to join forces with to bring “Hi No Tori” to life : a fusion of our three worlds between the scorching sun of Perpignan, the arid heat of Spain and the incomparable aesthetics of Japan.”
It’s a track for lovers of synthwave, futuristic cyberpunk dystopia and all-round synth nerds. Check it out below
