Just launched Sol Republic (an acronym for Soundtrack Of Life) is coming out strong with their accessibly priced on-ear and in-ear headphones. I’m digging the whole “Soundtrack Of Life” message since music really does soundtrack my daily life…and when it sounds better, I just feel better. I’m not sure I can explain all that, but it is a fact.

Kevin Lee is one of the guys behind the Sol brand (Seth Combs and Scott Hix are the other two). If the name Lee doesn’t ring a bell, his last gig probably does—Lee is widely credited for making Beats By Dr. Dre as crazy popular as they are. And together with Combs and Hix these three are serious veterans of the consumer electronics industry.
I have yet to give a pair of Sol headphones a test drive, so I can’t say for sure if they deliver (sans distortion) the full-bass punch and clear highs electronic music demands. I do feel super confidant, though, knowing that the guys behind the brand have a passion, and a proven track record for engineering and delivering great-sounding, well-built headphones.
The Tracks model (over-ear) and Amps (in-ear) will be available in either standard or HD sound quality. Standard Tracks will sell for $100 a pair while the Tracks HD price, and release date, have yet to be announced. A nice touch for the Tracks version is the interchangeable headbands and cables and the fact that they’re offered in different finishes, colors and designs, which makes customizing according to your style simple. The standard Amps model will sell for $60 a pair and like the Tracks HD, the release date and price have yet to be announced.
