The Skotti Portable Camping Grill System promises to revolutionize your outdoor grilling experience, providing an all-in-one solution for camping, picnics, tailgating, and other outdoor adventures. The Skotti grill’s ability to be deconstructed/assembled so it packs flat is easy to clean and takes up far less space in your vehicle than your traditional propane stove.
We met the Skotti team in June at the Big Gear Show in Denver and got to take one out into the wild.

Design and Build Quality:
The first thing that impressed us was the sleek and compact design of the Skotti grill. It is made of high-quality stainless steel, ensuring durability and longevity, even under harsh outdoor conditions. The system’s modular design allows for relatively easy assembly and cleaning, and it collapses into a compact form for effortless storage and transportation. The attention to detail and craftsmanship was evident in every aspect of its construction, and this is the only grill we have seen with this type of design. The Skotti is the BMW of portable grills and brings all the innovation and craftsmanship you would expect for the price point.

Assembling and Disassembling the Skotti:
Our first tip would be to practice assembling and disassembling the grill at home before taking it out for a spin. This step will ensure that you have everything you need parts-wise, that the grill is firing up correctly, and that you can set it up faster without frustration. The Skotti is reasonably easy to set up, especially with a couple of practice rounds. The grill comes in three parts, the base grill and grate, which is all you need to get going, and the optional Cap and Plancha or “griddle grate” for those looking for more options.

Setting up the basic Skotti grill was a breeze and relatively straightforward. It comes with instructions that we highly recommend keeping in the bag and goes together in about 5-10 minutes, depending on your skill. There is no need for any tools, as they applied a “Lego” philosophy to the construction; it all snaps together perfectly. The comprehensive user manual provided clear instructions, making the process hassle-free.
The Skotti Cap was the only component that gave us a little trouble, as it didn’t go together quite as quickly as the grill. Although we might need more practice, we finally got it together and would highly recommend getting this piece or the bundle, as it will prevent wind interference and allows for more cooking options.
Versatility and Cooking Surface:
This is where the accessories come in; if you want the full capabilities of the Skotti, you should buy the Cap and Plancha grate, and you can make anything with it (depending on your chef skills, of course.) The grill comes with a standard grilling grate which can be easily swapped for the plancha/griddle grate, which allows you a flat service for things like eggs, pancakes, etc. We also love the Boks accessories that will enable you to cook different items on the grill, like steaming veggies, etc.
The Cap lets you capture heat to push the limits further and protects your food from the elements. There are a variety of bundles available on their website so that you can tailor the Skotti system to your exact needs. The basic grill should suffice if you will use it for basic stuff like burgers, dogs, and boiling water.

Heat Distribution + Fuel options:

The Skotti grill utilizes a unique propane-powered design that delivers consistent heat across the cooking surface. The efficient burners evenly distribute heat, ensuring your food cooks perfectly. The Skotti, at its core, was designed as a propane stove, but if you are out in the wild and run out of propane or want to change up the flavor, the grill also works with standard charcoal and wood.
We’ve yet to try using charcoal or wood, but having this flexibility is excellent, especially if you run out of propane on the road or at the campsite.

Cleaning and Maintenance:
As with any nice camping gear, keeping it well-maintained will add years to its life. One of the great things about the grill is that it cools down quickly and can be cleaned within about 15 minutes of shutting it down (assuming you are using gas, other fuel might slow this process down). Cleaning the Skotti grill was surprisingly easy. The stainless steel surfaces were straightforward to wipe down, and the removable cooking surfaces could be detached and washed separately. Additionally, the grill’s design minimizes grease splatters and residue buildup, saving time on cleanup.

Final Thoughts
After extensively testing the Skotti Portable Camping Grill System on three separate trips, we can confidently say it lives up to its promises. Its impressive design, quality construction, versatility, and portability make it a must-have for those looking to save space and deliver an A+ grilling experience. Whether you’re a seasoned camper or a casual griller, the Skotti grill system offers an unparalleled outdoor cooking experience. While it may come with a slightly higher price tag than basic portable grills, the added features, durability, and convenience make it worth the investment. So, pack up your gear and elevate your grilling adventures with the Skotti Portable Camping Grill System!
What we loved:
- Easy to clean
- It packs down super small and gives you more room for other gear
- It has a good amount of surface area for preparing meals for up to 4 campers + more if you clever about timing
- Great carrying bag
What we didn’t love:
- The grill takes a little patience and practice to put together properly
- We struggled with the “topper” part, which didn’t go together quite as quickly, but we made it work.
Overall Rating 4/5

Ever since I was a little kid, I have been obsessed with media. It sounds strange, I know. When I was just 9-years-old, I created a newspaper and offered my mother the job of editor, which she happily accepted. Distribution was small but that didn’t deter me—I had the Citizen Kane virus. And then at age 23, I started another publication called BPM CULTURE Magazine (eventually dropping the word "Culture"), which evolved into a media company called Overamerica Media Group. I found myself in the media business because I love sharing information—telling great stories, sharing ideas and most importantly, informing people about great music! Like most ‘creative types,’ I dabbled in just about everything—from DJing, to producing, and even to creating a record label. And my list of other interests (hobbies) goes on and on; I will leave that for my autobiography. After Overamerica, I spent some time on the client side in fashion, then consulting for various start-ups, only to lead me back to where I started—a start-up media company. It all happened over dinner one night, a friend said why don’t you start up another magazine about EDM—Magnetic was born.
