Deadstock Coffee, the world’s first coffee shop for sneakerheads in Portland, Oregon serves up snob-free coffee in the city’s Old Town. Founder Ian Williams began the biz as a cart in Compound Gallery, after working as a footwear developer at Nike. His passion for sneaker culture and coffee is followed by his passion for snowboarding. When he met the founder of the technical backcountry apparel brand TREW, Chris Pew, through Built Oregon, in 2019, a flame ignited, and the dream of connecting the three began.

The result, after years of creative ideation, is a limited collection featuring TREW’s best-selling pieces of technical outerwear for backcountry skiing and snowboarding – the TREWth Bib and Cosmic Jacket, a beanie and a neck gaiter – in a limited edition black & yellow color blocking. The history of this colorway goes all the way back to an infamous ‘Wet Floor’ Dunk High SB sneaker that Deadstock’s founder, Ian Williams, designed while working as a custodian and moonlighting as a designer at Nike’s Beaverton campus.

“I’ve been passionate about snowboarding at Mt. Hood since I was a kid. I’ve always wanted to design a snowboard kit. It was super important to me that the kit be high quality and waterproof, something that anyone could wear and be comfortable for a day of riding at Mt Hood. That’s where working with TREW came in; I knew they were making really technical stuff for the backcountry and that’s what I wanted to bring to my community.” -Ian Williams.

“After meeting Ian in 2018, Deadstock immediately became one of my favorite brands in Portland, and it’s a coffee shop! I love how his brand is about so much more than coffee and sneakers. He effortlessly combines the worlds of coffee and sneakers without any of the pretenses.” – Chris Pew
