Two exciting breakthrough house acts Casmalia and Sherm both embody a compelling, modern sound that’s still rooted to the sounds that started the genre. Their debut collaboration, “The Beginning,” feels like an instant classic—a soulful tribute to house that’s rich with timeless grooves and hypnotic, fresh flair.
Released on Golf Clap’s Country Club Disco, the track samples the iconic I Was There When House Took Over The World. The result captures the raw, electric energy of house music’s origins, reimagined for a new generation of listeners.
“Casmalia sent the original demo that featured audio from my favorite documentaries “I Was There When House Took Over The World”. I immediately recognized it and knew this track had a ton of potential. The origins of House Music are something that mean so much to me especially considering I’m based in Chicago! It has also always been a goal to get on Golf Clap’s “Country Club Disco” label and I’m honored that Hugh saw the vision that we had for “The Beginning”. This is definitely a unique sound for me but it’s no surprise when you collab with someone for the first time! I had so much fun working with Casmalia and I’m stoked for the world to hear this.” – Sherm
“The Beginning” is a perfect capstone to a huge year for both artists, with Sherm soon to debut his Chicago Music Nexus event in November and Casmalia wrapping up a year that’s seen her releases on Insomniac and mau5trap. Together, they’ve crafted a track that’s as much a tribute to the genre’s past as it is an invitation to its future—making “The Beginning” essential listening for both new fans and long-time house heads.
“I had originally sent a different version of this track to Sherm, which was a lot deeper. He immediately wanted to hop on and take it in a groovier direction, which turned out to be a perfect blend of our individual styles. I’ve had an amazing crowd response every time I’ve played it out, and I’m so excited that CCD loved it enough to include it on my new EP!” – Casmalia
