Fluke returns with Real Magnificent, the second single of their new era, carrying a rich blend of nostalgia and forward-thinking sounds. Featuring vocals from Jon Fugler and Leah Clever, this release also delivers two standout remixes from rising producer sLEdger, adding fresh energy and depth to the mix. If Fluke’s original celebrates the freedom of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, sLEdger’s rework transforms it into a late-night anthem for today’s dancefloors.

The single isn’t just about looking back—it’s about capturing a moment when everything felt possible. Fluke reflects on those glory days, when club nights, music, and design thrived with a hand-crafted spirit. They channel that essence through every beat and lyric in Real Magnificent, evoking a time when joy was pure, and creativity knew no bounds.

sLEdger Takes the Remix Reins

For remix duties, Fluke taps sLEdger (Robin Dallison), an artist carving a unique space between deep electronic, indie dance, and Balearic sounds. His remix of Real Magnificent captures the bittersweet emotion of the original while building it into a hypnotic groove. With a low-slung, bass-heavy vibe, his version brings in the kind of sound you’d hear at the peak of a DJ set in the early hours.

sLEdger’s growing influence in the scene can’t be ignored. His previous releases under labels like Tici Taci, Pegdoll, and Global Underground have earned spins from industry heavyweights such as Annie Nightingale, Laurent Garnier, and John Digweed.

His recent track Popper even became a standout tune of 2024, thanks to Sean Johnston’s legendary ALFOS club night. With appearances at iconic venues like Back to Basics and Turnmills, sLEdger knows how to connect past and present—a perfect fit for remixing Real Magnificent.

A Legacy That Keeps Evolving

Fluke’s story began in the early ‘90s with white-label classics like Thumper and Philly, followed by a stint on Alan McGee’s Creation label. From there, the band built a reputation with albums like Six Wheels on My Wagon and Risotto while remixing artists such as New Order, Björk, and The Rolling Stones. Their music became a go-to for soundtracking pop culture moments, landing in films like The Matrix and Tomb Raider, as well as games like Need for Speed and Wipeout.

Real Magnificent is part of a larger project called Firebird, hinting at more releases and collaborations in the near future. Fluke is still crafting sounds that bridge eras, delivering tracks that feel both familiar and fresh. This release—and sLEdger’s remix in particular—proves that the band hasn’t lost their knack for creating something timeless.

As Fluke puts it, “if you build it, they will come.” And with Real Magnificent, they’ve built something worth showing up for.
