The Firecan Deluxe is the ultimate companion for campers who need a cooking surface and the warmth of a fire pit.
As someone who frequents the serene backcountry and the vibrant chaos of music festivals, I’ve had my fair share of campfires and makeshift grills. The Ignik Firecan Deluxe Fire Pit has quickly become a staple in my outdoor gear for its utility and its ethos: stay fueled, fed, and fired up, no matter where you are.
I was first introduced to Ignik through their reusable propane canisters, which are the perfect size for shorter weekend camping trips and are a more environmentally friendly alternative to disposable propane canisters. The Ignik canisters are the ideal companion for the Firecan Delux, as they are smaller than traditional refillable/swappable tanks you get at your local 7-11 and are much easier to pack for weekend adventures, giving you plenty of fuel.
How I Use The Ignik Firecan Deluxe Portable Firepit and Grill

If you have tried camping anywhere affected by wildfires over the last four to five years, you have probably experienced fire bans or campsites that have shut down woodburning campfires. I’m a huge fan of the HipCamp app to find last-minute locations for weekend camping trips, and last summer, there was not one site that allowed traditional campfires, at least not any that I could find.
This realization was, of course, a HUGE bummer as the campfire is always the focal point of the evening to sit around, tell stories, drink bourbon, and relax. So I got a fire bowl/firepit powered by propane, which was ok but rather large, and it didn’t emit enough flame to feel much like a campfire. Fast forward to 2024, and the perfect solution has arrived: the Ignik Firecan Deluxe is compact, emits a nice flame, and has an insert that allows you to use it as a cooking surface.
The Firecan Deluxe is the perfect solution for those who love campfires but live in places that no longer allow them.
What I Loved About The Firecan Deluxe

What’s great about the Firecan Deluxe is that it isn’t just a fire pit; it’s a portable grill that can cook up your meals and easily convert back to the center point of your evening as the campfire. The unit transitions smoothly between grill and fire pit modes and is equipped with a stainless steel flame cooking insert that gives optimal cooking temperatures for burgers, dogs, and other camping-friendly fare.
The insert packs nicely inside, along with the grill, handle, and gas hose. This feature is a game-changer at music festivals, where quick, hassle-free cooking is clutch. The flame adjustment knob allows for precise temperature control, making everything from burgers to grilled veggies easy to manage without the risk of charring— a common pitfall with less sophisticated setups.

The dual burner configuration in fire pit mode offers a generous flame, perfect for gathering around on cooler nights. Its compact, durable design with collapsible legs and a removable lid makes it incredibly easy to pack and transport. Whether I’m loading up a car with camping gear or a van for a festival, the Firecan Deluxe fits effortlessly, even in tight spaces.
Key Features
One of the key features is the grease tray, which helps you keep the gunk out of the grill and away from the flame. This tray efficiently catches excess grease at festivals where quick and easy cleanup is necessary, leaving more time to enjoy the event and less worrying about messes. At campsites, this feature simplifies cleanup and minimizes the environmental impact, aligning with Magnetic’s values of leaving no trace.
As much of a bummer as it is not to have wood-burning campfires, it’s far better to protect the forest and the people in and around it. Fire season is extremely gnarly these days, so the fact that the Firecan Deluxe is forest-safe is a critical feature for me. Its design, which keeps the fire raised off the forest floor, provides peace of mind, allowing me to enjoy the warmth and ambiance of a campfire without the risk of harming the surrounding area.
The Firecan Deluxe’s “plug and play” nature, with everything included right out of the box, is incredibly convenient. The five-foot quick-release hose attaches easily, making setup a breeze even after a long day of hiking or when arriving at a festival site.

Ever since I was a little kid, I have been obsessed with media. It sounds strange, I know. When I was just 9-years-old, I created a newspaper and offered my mother the job of editor, which she happily accepted. Distribution was small but that didn’t deter me—I had the Citizen Kane virus. And then at age 23, I started another publication called BPM CULTURE Magazine (eventually dropping the word "Culture"), which evolved into a media company called Overamerica Media Group. I found myself in the media business because I love sharing information—telling great stories, sharing ideas and most importantly, informing people about great music! Like most ‘creative types,’ I dabbled in just about everything—from DJing, to producing, and even to creating a record label. And my list of other interests (hobbies) goes on and on; I will leave that for my autobiography. After Overamerica, I spent some time on the client side in fashion, then consulting for various start-ups, only to lead me back to where I started—a start-up media company. It all happened over dinner one night, a friend said why don’t you start up another magazine about EDM—Magnetic was born.
