This Never Happened has partnered with The Ocean Cleanup to donate proceeds from Bandcamp sales to plastic cleanup efforts. This Never Happened modifies its album artwork design every now and then, and this campaign is an exciting move.

Lane 8’s ‘Rave’ is the first track released with the new artwork, and we’re curious to see more. According to the label, they are combining their classic floral designs with plastic found around their studio in London that was found outside of recycling bins. Seeing an artist or even label use their larger platform for good helps raise awareness about social issues, and the extent of a challenge that these issues face. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is larger than the American state of Texas–a fact many do not know. If more people knew the statistics, there could be a larger, more collective movement for change.

Ultimately, without awareness, there is no action. The Music Industry has a significant environmental impact, mainly in the form of music festivals. We are thrilled to see This Never Happened joining a number of other artists, labels, and organizations using their platforms for environmental action.
